Person-to-person courses and presentations are the best way of disseminating information on historical printmaking materials and techniques. Bringing students and researchers in direct contact with prints, ink, paper and practical printmaking gives them a tactile experience that cannot be learned from books. I am available to speak at conferences, lecture on the history of printmaking processes and give courses on the determination of historical graphic processes (more below). Find here information about my recent and forthcoming courses and presentations. Enquire about booking me.
My courses on the determination of historical printmaking processes concern relief (woodcut, wood engraving), intaglio (engraving, drypoint, mezzotint, crayon engraving, etching, aquatint, crayon etching) and lithography. Teaching is based on: - identification of techniques used for historical prints - survey of historical printmaking processes - recognising inks and papers - hands-on training in the basic techniques of historical printmaking processes - interpretation of art technological sources.
